Everything Changes

The more messed up this world gets, the more God makes sense.

Text messages. The ultimate tool for avoiding spelling and grammar. And the latest craze requiring translation for people over 40. (I can say that because I fall into that age category.)

Got a new cell phone last month. I did the text messaging thing a couple of years ago, but it wasn't as popular then. Now I seem to text more than I call.

At first I was actually spelling out words and capitalizing letters when required. I just couldn't convince myself that text shorthand was for me. After all, I'm the guy that proofs things for a living. And even when people try to write things correctly they get it wrong.

Yes, weird is weird. It doesn't follow the "i" after "e" except for "c" rule. And neither does neither. Or many other "ei" words. Who came up with these English rules anyhow?

Now i leave things undone. i rite words wrong & insert graphics. I say "k" instead of "okay" and "cya l8tr" instead of using real words. its just faster! u no, when ur tryin 2 reply to a txt u just got u need 2 rite it fast! who has time 4 words & grammar!

My mother is 75 and can't figure out computers. Although she has excellent keyboarding skills she just doesn't get how they work. So far so good for me. I wonder what fascinating techology will confuse the crap outta ME one day.
